I am preparing to upgrade all web hosting and reseller hosting accounts to newer, faster servers later this year. This will probably happen in June.
To facilitate this process you may be required to change the IP address of your domain(s).
What you need to do:
If you are using my nameservers then no action is required on your part.
This is most likely the case if you are receiving annual invoices from me for the registration and renewal of your domain. If you are not sure then please send me an email or give me a call and I'll check for you.
However if you are using external nameservers then please contact your domain registrar or the administrator who manages your domain and ask them to change the IP address.
This is most likely the case if your domain is invoiced by a third party such as Freeparking, Domainz, Iconz, Crazy Domains, 1stDomains etc.
You will receive your new IP address in an email from me. If you have not recevied this please get in touch. Not all accounts will be on the same IP address.
Please make this change as soon as practically possible. Deadline is the 19th May 2017.
Why we are doing this:
We are moving to a new server simply because the existing one is due for replacement.
Changing the IP address now will allow me to move accounts across to the new server without the downtime caused by DNS propagation. I will move your account and your new IP address across to the new server at the same time.
Changing your IP address now before moving to the new server won’t cause any downtime because your old and new IP addresses are currently linked on the existing server.
This change should also allow future server upgrades to be performed without the need for further DNS changes. So this could be the last DNS change that you ever need to make.
If you have any questions or need assistance please get in touch!
New features coming with the new server:
Ability to run any version of PHP from 4.4 up. You can choose the PHP version that you want from the control panel.
All older PHP versions have been hardened with patches to fix security vulnerabilities, even on versions no-longer supported by the PHP development team.
Ability to install/remove most PHP modules with a simple point and click interface from within the control panel.
Ability to set PHP configuration values from the control panel using a simple point and click interface without the need to edit configuration files or .htaccess files.
Significant security, reliability and performance improvements. No restarts required for Kernel upgrades will reduce downtime.
