Frequently Asked Questions

  • How are subscriber limits calculated?

    We are talking about unique subscribers, so if the same email address appears on multiple lists they will only be counted as one subscriber. We include bounced and unsubscribed email addresses in your total and encourage you to remove them to keep your list clean.

  • How is the number of emails sent calculated?

    Each subscriber that your campaign is sent to counts as one email. So if you sent a campaign to 500 contacts, that counts as 500 emails. If some of those emails bounce, perhaps because the email address doesn't exist, those emails still count, because they were still sent, even if they weren't received. We encourage you to maintain clean lists.

  • What do you mean by send ‘unlimited’ emails on the monthly by subscribers plans?

    Exactly that, there is no catch. These plans are only limited by the number of subscribers you can store.

  • What do you mean by store ‘unlimited’ contacts on the monthly by emails sent and pay as you go plans?

    Exactly that, there is no catch. These plans are only limited by the number of emails you can send.

  • Can I change my plan?

    Of course, you can upgrade, downgrade or even change your plan type whenever you need.

  • Can I cancel at any time?

    Yes of course :-)
    Cancel within 30 days and we'll give you a full refund.

  • Do I need to install anything?

    No, BoltMail is cloud software, you just log in using your web browser. All modern browsers are supported including Edge, Chrome, Firefox and Apple Safari. You can use it from any device, and from anywhere in the world, log in from your desktop, laptop, or tablet. You can even use your phone, but we don't recommend working on a screen that small.

  • Are there file storage limits?

    We are aware that some competitors limit the amount of images and other files that you can store for use in your emails. We have no such limits, we just ask that you only store files you are using in your email campaigns, other files will be deleted.

  • Do I need to pay extra for 'pro' features like timewarp or the countdown timer?

    No, all plans include all features. That's our policy. We add new features and improvements regularly and those future updates are included too.

  • You make a big deal of being in NZ, can my international company use BoltMail?

    Yes, anyone can use BoltMail (except spammers) however free plans are only available within New Zealand.

  • Can I purchase a mailing list?

    No we are not in the business of selling lists and we do not recommend the use of purchased lists, you can learn more from this article in our knowledgebase.

  • Are there regulatory requirements?

    Yes you must comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act and Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act as well as any other applicable laws within your country or region. For more information see this article in our knowledgebase.
