Why can't I add subscribers with the same email address?

We understand that sometimes subscribers share the same email address, such as a family email address, and you might still want to send each person a personalised email.

Unfortunately we do not allow a list to contain the same email address twice. If we allowed this it would be too easy to accidentally add the same subscriber to a list multiple times such as when updating your list by importing a spreadsheet or simply when someone subscribes multiple times through a subscribe form. This prevents accidental spamming with multiple copies of the same email.

There are two ways around this: You could create separate lists for your duplicates or you could manually combine your duplicate's details in a way that makes sense to all of them, for example changing their name to "Smith family"
