How to allow subscribers to update their details

You may want to send an email campaign with a link for subscribers to update their details, BoltMail includes an "Update profile form" for this that you can link to from your email campaigns.

First make sure you have added all the fields you would like subscribers to edit. To manage your custom fields go to Lists > Lists, click on the list name, then click on Custom fields. For each field you can choose whether it will be visible on forms, this allows you to keep some fields hidden from subscribers.

You might also want to edit the wording that appears on the update profile form, to do this go to Lists > Lists, click on the list name, then click on "Pages & Messages", then click on "Update profile form"

Now create your email campaign, on the template step when designing your email do the following:

Create a link with a URL of [UPDATE_PROFILE_URL]

If you are using the drag and drop editor, type out the text for the link such as "Update your details", highlight that text and click the "Insert/Edit Link" button. The "Insert/Edit Link" window will open. From "Special Links" choose "Update Profile"

Alternatively you could drag across a button from the Content pane. Then from "Special Links" choose "Update Profile"

If you are using the text editor then type out the text for the link such as "Update your details", then click the "Insert/Edit Link" button. The "Insert/Edit Link" window will open. Change the "Protocol" to "<other>" and type [UPDATE_PROFILE_URL] into the URL field.

Alternatively you could send out a Survey.
Surveys will not update the subscribers details, the information captured from the survey is separate from the subscriber details.
Surveys are anonymous which means that if you need to match the survey responses to each subscriber then you will need questions in the survey to capture their details such as their email address and name.
